4284. March, C. M. Feb. 20. Hinged sliding windows.-The sashes 1, 2 are hinged at 8, 7 to sliding stiles 5, 6, which are hinged at 9, 10 to slides 13, 11 working, in grooved members 14, 12 on the pulley-stiles, so that both sashes may be swung outward @ inwards while in any vertical position @@@@. lying flat against each other, as shown in Fig. 4 when 'the hinged parts are turned outwards or inwards through 90 degrees. Each sash may be divided vertically, the halves being secured together in the sliding position by slides 15, 16 and each half being balanced, when swung on its )hinges, by the balance-weight at its side of the frame.
