138,124. American Coke & Chemical Co., (Assignees of Roberts, A.). Jan. 3, 1916. [Convention date]. Coke ovens. - In a " flueless " regenerative oven, for example of the kind described in Specification 1570/15, a common airdelivery passage is associated with each heating- wall and is connected with regenerators situated one beneath each half of the wall. The burners 11 are at the upper end of the heating - wall, and are supplied with air from a common flue 13 connected at both ends to regenerators, each consisting of a pair of superposed connected chambers 19, 20 and 21, 22. The regenerators also communicate with a waste gas collecting-flue 18 at the foot of the heating-wall, and dampers 41, 42 are provided for controlling the connexions. At their lower ends the regenerators are connected to tunnels 27, 28 in communication through a reversing-devioe with an exhaust fan or stack and a source of air supply. In the position shown of the dampers 41, 42, air is supplied through the tunnel 27 and flows through the chambers 20. 19 and the uptake 16 to the flue 13. Combustion is effected in the heating-wall, and the products are exhausted through the flue 18, chambers 21, 22. and the tunnel 28. The vertical partitions between the regenerative charnbers of adjacent ovens are arranged beneath the soles of the ovens, so that the weight of the charge is transmitted direct to the foundation structure. The width of the regenerator cham. bers is made less than the distance between the mid points of adjacent heating-walls.
