Abstract

1372710 Bed-settee W C ROGERS JNR and M SNITZER 7 Dec 1971 [7 Dec 1970] 56670/71 Heading A4J In a bed settee in which the seat 14 and backrest 16 are co-planar in the bed position, the seat and backrest are pivotally inter-connected and are supported for movement between the two positions by a linkage mechanism which comprises front and rear swing arms 40, 42 pivotally connected at their lower ends 44, 46 to a base 12 and at their upper ends 52, 62 to the seat and a carrier link 64 respectively, the carrier link being pivotally connected to the backrest at its rear end and to the front swing arm 40 at 78 which is intermediate both the front arm and the carrier link. A leg 82 which is folded under the seat in the settee position unfolds to support the seat in the bed position on conversion from the settee to the bed position due to its connection to one end of a crank 90 pivoted intermediate its ends to a seat bracket 92 and pivoted at the other end to an actuator link 80 which is pivotally connected to the front end of the carrier link 64.
