Abstract

1,168,918. Bed-settees. SENG CO. 2 June, 1967 [6 June, 1966], No. 25617/67. Heading A4J. In the bed-settee of the type in which a folded, multi-section mattress frame is lowered into a compartment to form the settee seat, rear mattress section 32 is controlled, during conversion, by stay links 65, 70 and not by any direct pivotal connection with the framework 24 of the settee. The mattress frame, supported at pivots 36 and 58 is tilted and swung on arms 46 and 50 by co-ordinating linkages of which link 54 contains links 49 and 57 to move nearly equiangularly about their pivots 36 and 58, respectively. Link 67 and arm 50 are pivoted to stay link 70, to control the movement of section 32 so that the mattress thereon clears frame part 22c. Lost motion connection 71 allows the section 32 to be upwardly inclined in the bed position (Figs. 11 and 12, not shown). A slight upward inclination of section 32 may be obtained by inverting connecting link 62 (Fig. 13, not shown).
