Abstract
1,238,164. Bed-settees. R. A. FRENCH. 3 Dec., 1969 [13 March, 1969], No. 13409/69. Heading A4J. The backrest 8 (Figs. 1 and 5, not shown) of a settee is pivotable to a position in which the backrest depends adjacent to a side of the base of the settee, so forming a bed. The backrest is preferably in two halves 8a and 8b, each half being pivotally mounted on the end frame of the settee by a right-angled support arm 11. Each arm 11 has a projection 11a which rubs over a spring loaded lever arm 14 when the backrest half is at its uppermost position, thereby steadying the movement of the backrest.
