Abstract

1368180 Combustion chambers BARKASWERKE VEB 21 Dec 1972 59032/72 Addition to 1187787 Heading FIB In an improvement of the direct injection I. C. engine in Specification 1187787 a fuel injector 8, Fig. 1 directs a jet along a line which, when viewed in the plane passing through the axis of the fuel injector and parallel to the chamber axis, is spaced from and parallel to a line which is asymptotic to the envelope surface at the outer flared surface on one side of the combustion chamber and which is asymptotic to the envelope surface at the inner flared surface on the opposing side of the combustion chamber and also directs a jet towards the inner wall of the chamber either in a direction substantially parallel to the chamber axis or slightly inclined to the axis to have a component of velocity in the direction of swirling motion of the air adjacent the further jet.
