Abstract

1,076,317. Combustion chambers. DAIMLER-BENZ A. G. Sept. 16, 1964 [Sept. 21, 1963], No. 37854/64. Heading F1B. A combustion chamber 3 is provided with a fuel interception shoulder 6 approximately at right angles to the combustion chamber axis and of a length from one quarter to one half of the combustion chamber periphery, the greater part of the fuel impinging on the chamber wall above the level of shoulder 6. The initial part of shoulder 6 may slope downwardly and in Fig. 6 (not shown) the whole shoulder 6 has a slight downward slope. More than one shoulder may be provided; in Fig. 7 (not shown) shoulders (6)... (6") are provided one above the other and in Fig. 9 (not shown) separate shoulders 6 are spaced around the periphery.
