Abstract

1360269 Discharge lamps PATENT-TREUHAND-GES FUR ELEKTRISCHE GLUHLAMPEN mbH 8 Oct 1971 [8 Oct 1970] 47034/71 Heading H1D A high pressure, rare gas, short-arc discharge lamp for three phase operation includes three equivalent principal electrodes the tips of which lie in a plane perpendicular to the intended direction of optical emission and define an isosceles triangle lying in the centre of curvature of a reflector conformally projecting the area of discharge, the tips being spaced from one another by a shorter distance than from the wall of the reflector, and one of the electrodes being disposed vertically to face the base of the triangle. In the example shown the tips of the thoriated tungsten electrodes 14, 15, 16 for a triangle of 2 mm. base and 1.7 mm. side in a spherical discharge chamber 7 filled with xenon at greater than 10 atmospheres, the whole being surrounded by a spherical aluminium reflector 17.
