Abstract

1309337 Discharge lamps WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 30 Sept 1971 [27 Oct 1970] 45566/71 Heading H1D [Also in Division C1] A ceramic arc tube 12 for a discharge lamp is formed by a single-piece translucent, polycrystalline oxide, open-ended tube having reduced internal and external diameters at its ends, such that each end of the tube may be closed off with a single seal between the tube and a rod or tubulation extending therethrough to support an electrode. As described, the arc tube is of alumina for a lamp having a mercury and sodium filling. Dimensions of the arc tube are given, together with details of the process of manufacture (see Division C1).
