Abstract
1,222,626. Flashbulbs. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct.9, 1969 [Oct. 9, 1968; Aug.25, 1969], No.49624/69. Headings G2A and G2L. A flashbulb having an internal volume of not more than 2.0 cc and containing combustible material 21 and a combustion-supporting gas in an amount equal to 100% to 130% by weight of the chemical equivalent necessary for the combustion of the material 21 has a pair of main lead-in wires 25, 26 connected by an ignition filament 29 and an auxiliary lead-in wire 27 disposed parallel to the main lead-in wire 26, the wire 26 having a diameter in the range of 0À2 mm to 0.6 mm and the spacing between the wires 26 and 27 being not greater than 75% of the diameter of the wire 26. When the bulb is fired the wires 26, 27 undergo partial combustion and fuse together to complete a circuit through which a second bulb can subsequently be fired. A recess 30 may be provided in the glass bead 28 which supports the wires to receive the molten metal. A plurality of such bulbs may be mounted in a holder 40, Fig. 6 (not shown) comprising a supporting member (42) formed with recesses (43) which receive the bulbs and contain aluminium-vapour-deposited reflectors (44).
