Abstract

1,162,697. Photographic flash-lamps. AGFA-GEVAERT A.G. Dec.2, 1966 [Dec.2, 1965], No. 53999/66. Headings G2A and G2L. Electrically ignitable multiple flash-lamps comprise a lamp envelope subdivided into chambers containing an ignition filling and filament, the envelope being provided with an electric circuit such that the filaments in each chamber can be ignited sequentially through a single pair of lead-in wires. As shown Fig. 2, a flash-cube type lamp holder 1 has at each face an envelope 12 subdivided into a pair of chambers 13, 14 positioned in front of reflectors 15, 16; lamp 13 contains an ignition wire 19 connected to flash contacts 5a, 6a by a fixed lead 5 and a resilient lead 6; lamp 14 contains an ignition filament 20 connected to contact 5a by lead 5 and arranged to be connected to contact 6a by a lead 21 and lead 6 after the latter has been released on firing filament 19. In an alternative embodiment, Fig.3 3 (not shown), the ignition filaments (32), (33) of both chambers are connected in parallel to contacts 5a, 6a, filament (33) also being in series with a resistor (36) so that sufficient current for ignition cannot pass through it until after filament (32) has been fired. Heat insulation may be provided between adjacent chambers.
