Abstract

1339003 Rolling mills DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 April 1970] 17130/70 Heading B3M A rolling mill comprises a pair of vertical rolls 3 and 4 mounted as a unit in a frame 10, the unit being removable from the mill by means of wheels 16 on the frame. During normal operation of the mill, the unit is supported by stools 12 on a pair of beams 13 (Fig. 2). To remove the unit from the mill, the beams are lowered by further jack-operated beams 14 until extensions 18 on the beams 13 engage with latches 20 (which have previously been extended). The unit is then supported by its wheels on the extensions and is free to be moved on to the mill floor 21 (Fig. 3). The rolls are provided with adjusting screws 11 and with balancing units 11<SP>1</SP>.
