Abstract

1336999 Fastening railway rails RESILIENT GRIP Ltd 28 Oct 1971 [7 Nov 1970] 53080/70 Heading E1G In a rail fastening wherein the lateral location or gauge of a railway rail 30 is adjusted by reversal and/or inversion of shouldered fastening clips 5 bolted to a base plate 1 anchored to preformed holes, Fig. 3 (not shown), in a foundation 20, each clip has on each of its upper and lower faces at least two rail-locating shoulders 45 differentially spaced from its bolt hole 40 and a pair of lugs 41 symmetrically arranged around the bolt hole, the lugs being engageable with a pair of recesses in the base plate 1. The two clips engaging the rail on opposite sides may be rectangular in plan and of different shoulder sizes but interchangeable so that the rail may be secured in eight different positions corresponding to the eight shoulders 45a..h; the plate 1 rests on a pad 1 and is anchored to the foundation holes, Fig. 3 (not shown) by separate bolts (4) and elastomeric sleeves (3). In a modification. Figs. 4-6 (not shown) each clip is of cruciform plan having four lugs and four shoulders on each face, and the clip bolts (61, 62) also serve to anchor the base plate to the foundation holes through elastomeric sleeves (63) surrounding nut members non-rotatably keyed in the base plate.
