Abstract

968,659. Fastening railway rails. LOCKSPIKE Ltd. July 16, 1963, No. 28195/63. Heading E1G. A flange footed rail 1 is secured to a concrete sleeper 3 by a fastening member of the type described in Specification 861,473, the first portion 7 of the fastening member lying in a horizontal passage 15, formed in a cast anchoring member 13 having at least one projection 12 incorporated in the sleeper 3 during casting, the third portion 8 of the fastening member bearing on the rail flange 1 or an intermediate member 5 and the fifth portion 9 bearing on an unyielding surface 14. The surface 14 is preferably formed on the anchoring member 13 which may have a nylon bush 15a. The rail may be insulated by resting on a rubber pad 2 and by the imposition of an insulation block 5 between the flange and the member 13.
