Abstract

1496390 Securing rails to sleepers PANDROL Ltd 21 June 1976 [19 March 1975] 11521/75 Heading E1G An insulator for use between the base of a flange-footed railway rail and a rail fastener which bears down on the top of the rail flange comprises a first portion 5 interposed between the rail flange I and the rail fastener 9, a second portion 6 between the side of the rail flange and the anchoring member 13 of the fastener which limits transverse movement of the rail, and two lugs 24 on opposite sides of the anchoring member to limit movement of the insulator along the rail. The insulator is made by placing a metallic member in a mould and injecting into the mould a hardenable material which is allowed to harden before removal from the mould. The metallic member is preferably completely covered by the insulating material except for the portion which is in contact with the rail fastener 9.
