Abstract

1,042,991. Securing rails to sleepers. BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD. March 5, 1965 [March 5, 1964], No. 9347/64. Heading E1G. A rail 1 is secured to a concrete or other cast or moulded sleeper 2 by a plate spring clip 3 bearing on the foot of the rail and on a back support 4 against the reaction of the crossbar 10 of a hoop member 5 embedded in the sleeper. The hoop member has an integral portion 12 of T-shape bent towards the rail to provide lateral location. An insulator 6 may be provided between the rail and the clip and hoop member; further insulation being provided by a pad 8 and the support 4. The spring clip 3 may be tapered at end 16 and forked at 18 to give 3 point bearing and location is effected by a recess in the support 4, the sides of the hoop 5 and lugs on the insulator 6.
