Abstract

1,217,331. Securing rails to sleepers. TEMPERED SPRING CO. Ltd. 22 Jan., 1968 [20 Jan., 1967], No. 3184/67. Heading E1G. In a rail fastening comprising a rectangular or (as shown) forked plate spring clip 14 bearing at one end on the rail foot 11 and at the other end on a back support 18, the spring 14 passes through a horizontal slot in one upstanding arm of a U-shaped section piece 16 of flat material bolted or screwed to a sleeper or other foundation 12, the other upstanding arm of the piece 16 forming a lateral abutment for the rail. As shown the sleeper 12 comprises two concrete halves connected by an angle iron 40; the rail seats on a pad 38; the back support 18 is of plastics; an insulator 15 has projections to interlock with the abutment 26 and with the forked end of the spring 14; and the piece 16 seats against a shoulder 36 in the sleeper and is secured by a T-bolt 24 engaging a slot 44 in the angle iron 40. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,042,991.
