Abstract
1327260 Treating copper-base alloy OLIN CORP 22 Dec 1970 [9 Feb 1970 17 July 1970 19 Aug 1970] 60898/70 Heading C7A A copper-base alloy having Mn 8-16%, Zn in amount (K-2/3 Mn) where K is 30À5-36À25 (i. e. Zn is 19-31%, Pb 0-3%, Ni 0-0À5%, and the following in amount 0 to less than 0À5%: Al, Fe, Sn, Si, Co, Mg, Mo, P, As, Sb, is cast below 1000‹C., hot rolled starting below 850‹C. and finally cold rolled. Preferred conditions are casting above 870‹C. (e.g. 925-975), hot rolling starting at 700-800‹C. (e.g. 725-775), annealing (after cold rolling) for at least 15 min at 400- 800‹C., and then cooling to room temperature at more than 25‹C. per hour, thereby obtaining an alloy having substantially all alpha phase. In the case of a lead-containing alloy initially having 10-60% beta phase the hot rolling may start at 700- 850‹C. (e.g. 740-820). Preferred alloys used contain (1) Mn 10-16% and K 32-35, i.e. Zn is 22-29%, and (2) Pb 1-3% (e.g. 1À3-2À3), Mn 8-16% (e.g. 11-14), Zn 20-31% (e.g. 21-29) the Pb being present as not more than 20% beta phase.
