Abstract
1380291 Altering physical properties; working at specified temperatures OLIN CORP 16 March 1972 [5 May 1971] 12428/72 Heading B3V [Also in Division C7] An alloy containing in percentage by weight is worked at 450‹-950‹ F. to effect a reduction of at least 20% and is then given at least 20% further reduction below 450‹ F. before annealing at 250‹-650‹ F. for a maximum time "t" in minutes given by he expression where "T" is the annealing temperature in ‹K., this limitation preventing recrystallization. The alloy is then again worked at least 20% below 450‹ F. while alternate cold working and annealing may be repeated a number of times. The working below 450‹ F. may be combined with annealing. The Specification also claims an alloy of the above composition characterized by an ultra-fine sub-grain structure of cell size less than 0À0001 mm. in which the sub grains have boundary walls of pinned dislocation tangles.
