[Also in Division C7] Alloys of aluminium and zinc in the as-cast condition and having compositions falling within the areas A or B of the drawing are homogenized above 275‹ C., rapidly cooled, e.g. by water quench, to below 100‹ C., and worked at a temperature between 200‹ and 275‹ C. An ageing step may be interposed between quenching and working; for alloys of substantially eutectoid composition this may be effected at temperatures below 100‹ C. for up to 400 hours, while for alloys of 70% Zn- 30% Al it is carried out for up to 30 hours at 200‹ to 250‹ C. The working may be effected by rolling.
