Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce an aluminum alloy hard plate low in deep drawing edge rate, by employing Mg as an essential component, and Mn, Zr, V, and Ti as optionally selectable components, and by regulating rolling and heat treatment.
CONSTITUTION: An aluminum ingot containing 4.0 to 6.0% Mg as an essential component and, when necessary, one or more of 0.1 to 0.7% Mn, 0.01 to 0.05% Zr, 0.005 to 0.12 V, and Ti below 0.05% is hot rolled to a thickness below 2.5 mm. Medium annealing at a temperature of 300 to 350°C for about an hour converts this into a recrystallized structure. Subsequent cold rolling below cold rolling rate below 85% forms an aluminum hard alloy plate low in deep drawing edge rate.
