Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled strip inexpensively and efficiently by continuously casting molten steel contg. a specified amount of C, Si, Mn and S and/or Se to form a thin ingot having a specified thickness thereafter the ingot is hot rolled, cold rolled and subjected to decarburization annealing and high temp. annealing. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel contg, by weight, >0.08% C, >4.5% Si, 0.02- 0.15% Mn and 0.005-0.1% S and/or Se is continuously cast to form a thin ingot having 3-80mm. thickness. Before the ingot temp. is dropped to <700 deg.C, the ingot is hot rolled to 1.5-3.5mm. thickness at >=50% reduction ratio and 700-1,100 deg.C hot rolling finish temp. and cold rolled once or >=2 times with process annealing in- between. The resulting strip is then subjected to decarburization annealing and high temp. annealing.
