Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture austenite steel sheet with excellent resistance to oxidation, having no edge crack, by hot rolling of continuously cast slab of Cr-Ni alloy steel of very low S content and high Si content at a specific temp. and a specific conditions for rolling reduction. CONSTITUTION:Cr-Ni alloy steel of high Si content consisting of <0.10% C, <5% Si, <2% Mn, 9-15% Ni, 17.5-25% Cr, <0.003% S, or in addition, 0.0010- 0.0060% Ca is made into a slab by continuous casting process. The slab is hot rolled at 1,200-1,250 deg.C temp. and at <=30% reduction ratio to manufacture steel sheet and is wound into a coil. The steel sheet has stable austenite structure due to Ni contained in it, and has excellent resistance to oxidation because of the Cr content, very small S content, and by the treatment with Ca. The limitation of heating temp. for hot rolling to 1,200-1,250 deg.C temp. range allows to prevent the formation of edge crack in the steel sheet during hot rolling.
