Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the titled alloy plate which provides a disk base plate excellent in smoothness by rolling under predetermined conditions an ingot of an Al- based alloy containing specified component ratios of Mg, Cr, Ti and the like.
CONSTITUTION: The ingot of the Al-alloy is produced, the alloy containing 3W6% of Mg, 0.03W0.1% of Cr and 0.03W0.08% as indispensable constituents, wherein Mn is not more than 0.4% Fe, not more than 0.1% Si not more than 0.1%, Zn not more than 0.25%, Cu not more than 0.1% and B not more than 0.01%. The ingot is soaked at 420W500°C for 1W10hr, followed by hot breakdown rolling at a reducing rate of 30W70%. After a further soaking treatment at 500W560°C for 3W24hr, hot finish rolling and cold rolling are conducted to obtain a desired plate thickness, thereby obtaining the Al-based alloy which contains fine crystallizates uniformly dispersed in a matrix and is free of microsegregation.
