Abstract

1308131 Regulating IC engine fuel injection JOSEPH LUCAS (ELECTRICAL) Ltd 23 Feb 1970 [26 Nov 1968] 55965/68 Heading FIB In a fuel injection system a control stop of a shuttle-type metering device is set by an abutment 31 of a control apparatus 10. The apparatus comprises a lever 16 operatively connected to the abutment 31 and having a roller 17 engaging a cam 18 on a shaft 19 adapted to be connected to the engine throttle valve. The lever 16 is pivoted on a shaft 15 carried by the arms 12, 13 of a yoke 11 pivoted on a shaft 14. The shaft 15 carries a roller 20 engaging a cam 21 movable by a diaphragm 22a subjected, in use, through a passage 26 to the engine intake manifold vacuum. The lever 16 is pivoted about the shaft 15 by the cam 18 to increase the fuel supply with increased throttle opening and the cam 21 is operated by the diaphragm 22a to allow the spring 32 to pivot the lever about the roller 17 to decrease the fuel supply with increased manifold vacuum. To provide increased fuel for starting a cam 35, rotated by a lever 34, engages the arm 13 of the yoke 11 and the lever 16 is pivoted about the roller 17.
