Abstract

1,163,734. Fuel injection systems. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Nov. 22, 1966 [Oct. 7, 1965], No.42562/65. Heading F1B. A member 20 controlling the delivery of a fuel injection system 11 is controlled by a roller 22 which is moved over a cam face 32a of a pivoted cam 32 by a diaphragm 26 responsive to intake manifold suction. When the engine is stationary a latch 46, Fig.2 is rotated anti-clockwise, until engaged by a latching member 49, to stress spring 47 and bias member 32 anticlockwise, thereby providing increased fuel supply for starting. Immediately the engine starts the latch 49 is released by movement of the arm 23 connecting roller 22 to diaphragm 26 and spring 37 returns cam 32 to its normal position. The position of cam 32 is also controlled in accordance with engine temperature by a pin 41 engaging a slot 40 in a pivoted member 36, to which the cam is secured. The fuel injection device 11 comprises a metering shuttle 19 reciprocated by the fuel pressure between a stationary stop 18 and a stop 17 adjusted by member 20. A rotary sleeve 15 controls the fuel supply to the shuttle chambers and the delivery to outlets 10 connected to the fuel injectors.
