Abstract

1303779 Trunks K HAMANN and J HAMANN [trading as ROX-LEDERWARENFABRIKEN HAMANN KG] 16 July 1971 [30 July 1970] 33537/71 Heading B8P A trunk is formed by engagement of bottom, side and top panels 16, 17 and 32 in grooves 11, 21 and 31 of rectangular frames 1, 2 and 3, the inside surface of a side wall of each groove being roughened or ribbed to strengthen an adhesive bond between the panels and frames. In the embodiment shown, the frame 3 is extended to form a double side wall for the lid which is hinged. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2) the side walls of the lid are formed by panels (48) the upper edges of which are received in grooves (14) of a frame surrounding the top panel 32 and the lower edges of which are received in grooves of a further frame (4) of H cross-section. In both embodiments, when the lid is closed, a bead 24 engages a sealing cord 50 seated in a groove of the frame 3 or of the further frame (4, Fig. 2) by inwardly projecting ribs 39.
