Abstract

129,806. Torazzi, M. F., and Webb, G. W. C. July 17, 1918. Generating by direct contact of combustion products. - The products of combustion issuing from a burner are passed through a succession of nozzles of increasing diameter, forming an ejector-like device, wherein steam is generated and mixed with the combustion products. Fig. 1 shows a generator comprising three nozzles C, C<1>, C<2>, each consisting of a centra portion c and flared ends c<1>. Air and oil or gas are supplied through connexions b<1>, b, respectively, and are ignited by a sparking-plug or other device b<2>. Water is supplied to the space F through the hollow cover G or through a double casing F<1>, and the mixture of steam and combustion products produced in the nozzles C, C<1>, C<2> passes into a pipe D, and through a cock d to a turbine or other motor. A number of these generators, for example six, may be grouped in a ring and connected to a single turbine etc.; they may be supplied from a fuel chamber and a feed-water pipe in common.
