Drum or barrel winding-machines.-Haulage means for use in mines comprises a drum or drums driven by a reversible rotary compressed-air engine. The rotary engine 1 drives through gearing 13, 14 a shaft 15 carrying loose pinions 16, 17, either of which may be clutched to the shaft by levers 20, 21, and so drive through gear-wheels 22, 23 the rope drums 24, 25, which are provided with foot-operated band brake gear 27, 28.
