Abstract

Scraping-apparatus.-In an excavator comprising a two-drum winch provided with friction clutches and band brakes, the drums controlling scoop-hauling and hoisting ropes respectively, disconnectible gearing is provided capable of coupling the drums together so that the haulage rope may be paid out simultaneously and proportionately with the hauling in of the hoisting rope. The haulage and hoisting drums b, g are loose on their shafts c, f which are connected by gears e, h. The gear e is slidable to drive the drum b through friction clutch d for drawing in the hauling rope, while the drum g may be driven from the shaft f through a friction clutch k to draw in the hoisting rope ; while the hoisting rope is being drawn in, the haulage drum b may be driven from the shaft f through friction clutch o and gearing p, n, m to pay out the haulage rope.
