Abstract
128,048. Hudlass, F. W. July 22, 1918. Spray carburettors.-Consists in a fitting adapted to be readily inserted between the carburettor and the inlet pipe to permit of the screwed shank of the conical fuel needle valve being actuated by engine suction. The fuel orifice 4 is controlled by a conical valve 3, the shank 2 of which is screw-threaded at its upper end. An arm 21 is clamped to the shank 2, and is connected by a link 22 with a spring-loaded piston in a cylinder 9, a web 10 on which is screwed at 11 into a projection 15 of a flange 12 inserted between the carburettor outlet 5 and the induction pipe 6. The piston is normally forced out. wards by the spring, and the space behind it communicates with the induction passage through ducts 17, 18. Valves 7, 8 are placed at the air inlet and mixture outlet respectively.
