Abstract

1,255,289. Vibratory screening apparatus. MIDWESTERN INDUSTRIES Inc. 12 Nov., 1970 [28 Nov., 1969], No. 53881/70. Heading B2H. A portable screening device 10 for use with a container 11 having an opening in its top comprises a base frame 14 for resting on the top 12 of the container, a vibrator plate 21, e.g. of plastics, resiliently mounted, by means of rubber cushioning members 20, on the base frame 14, vibrating means 24 attached to the vibrator plate 21, screen mounting means 25, 30, 32 carrying a screen 33 for overlying the container and supported by the vibrator plate 21, and clamps 40 holding the screen mounting means to the vibrator plate so that vibrations from the vibrating means 24 are transmitted to the screen 33. The vibrating means 24 which may consist of two or more electromagnetic or pneumatic vibrators are affixed to S-shaped brackets 22 welded to the plate 21. The screen mounting means comprises an annular L-shaped skirt 25 having an axially downwardly extending leg 28 which acts as a protective skirt for the cushioning members 20, an annular plastics vibrating ring 30 which rests on a gasket 29 positioned on the skirt 25, and an angle iron 32 one leg of which is received and fastened in a vertical recess 31 in the ring 30. The screen 33 may be welded to the other leg of the angle iron 32. An upper input guiding frame 36 made of plastics or stainless steel is clamped by means of clamps 40 on top of the screen 33, a screen protective cap 34 and a gasket 34 being provided between the screen and a flange 37 of the frame 36. The screening device may consist of two screens mounted one above the other.
