Abstract
124,704. Du Pont de Nemours & Co., E. I., (Assignees of Crane, J. E., and Loomis, E. G.). March 23, 1918, [Convention date]. Scrubbers and washers.-Crude camphor is purified by vaporizing it, "baking " the vapours as described in Specification 118,489, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], then scrubbing the vapours, and finally condensing them. The construction of the scrubber is shown in Fig. 3; it consists of a cylindrical vessel with a conical bottom and removable cover; the vapours enter by the pipes 8, 9; the pipe 9 is provided with a hand-operated valve 12 which carries arms 13<a> to remove solidified camphor from the bottom of the scrubber. A series of troughs containing liquid camphor are formed by pans 15 and baffleplates 16. The scrubber is beated by a coil 2<d>, ,hot oil being circulated through the coil.
