Abstract

148,811. Chenard, E. A. R. Dec. 24. 1918, [Convention date]. Addition to 130,992, [Class 32, Distilling &c.]. Separators. -Gases or vapours are deprived of drops of liquid accompanying them by passage through a group of metallic screens moistened with the liquid to be removed. The gas enters a chamber 4 by the pipe 1 and passes through a number of superimposed metal screens 4 which are clamped together between frames 5 and supported on brackets 6. The liquid retained by the screens serves to arrest further liquid and then falls to the bottom of the chamber to bo removed to the vessel 7, whilst the deprived gas passes out by the pipe 3. In certain cases it is necessary to spray liquid on to the screens through the pipe 8, either to start or to maintain the operation. The process is stated to be applicable to the separation of tar from coal gas &c.
