Abstract

124,551. Longsdon, H. C. March 22, 1918. Separating by gravity.-A mixture of oil and water is directed from a vertical pipe b<1> against a conical deflector c situated within a conical baffle d in a tank a. The oil passes up a pipe f at the vertex of the baffle d and the water up a pipe g. The pipe g is so arranged as to maintain the level of the water in the tank a at a suitable distance below the outlet of the pipe f. The supply tank m is placed above the tank a, so that the mixture enters the tank under a sufficient head. A heating coil h may be arranged under the tank a.
