Abstract

230,042. Fisher, T. Feb. 28, 1924, [Convention date]. Separating by gravity. -Apparatus for separating oil or other lighter liquid from water comprises an outer vertical casing 1, an inner casing 2 and a central water outlet pipe 8 with an adjustable sleeve 9. In the outer compartment is a spiral deflector 4, extending vertically at the top. The mixed liquids are supplied through a pipe 5 having an air vent 16. Oil rises to the surface in the outer compartment, is heated by a steam coil 13 and discharged through a pipe 12. Water passes from the outer to the inner compartment through openings 6 at the bottom. The bottom of the apparatus is connected by a pipe 17 to a pressure water supply, so that an adequate water content can always be maintained.
