Abstract

765,304. Contacting gases with liquid. DIDIER-KOGAG-HINSELMANN GES. Feb. 2, 1955, No. 3146/55. Class 55 (2). Gas or vapour washing apparatus having a series of bubble-trays 2 each of which has a number of sector-shaped apertures 5 or sectorshaped groups of apertures for passing the gas or vapour, the sectors being arranged with their points inwards around the centre of the floor has each aperture 5 or group of apertures covered by a bubble-cap 7 which is also sector-shaped in plan and similarly arranged. The tray 2 has three radial partitions 3, each of which extends from the outer edge to a notched weir 4, the latter forming, with a U-shaped boundary wall 9, a collecting chamber 10. The wall 9 extends beyond the weir 4 to the inner edge of apertures 5. Each chamber 10 is supplied with liquid from the tray above by a pipe 11, the liquid overflowing weir 4 on both sides of the partition 3, flowing around the bubble-caps 7 to be discharged through pipes 12. The bottom edges of the bubble-caps 7 may be serrated. In a modification only one sector-shaped bubble-cap and aperture are provided between each pair of radial partitions and each collecting chamber supplies liquid to only one bubble cap.
