Abstract

1,241,212. Electroless metal plating. RCA CORPORATION. Oct. 8, 1968 [Oct. 26, 1967], No.47590/68. Heading C7F. A nickel-phosphorus electroless-plating bath for use below 35‹C. comprising a nickel salt e.g. sulphate or chloride, a source of hypophosphite irons, e.g. sodium hypophosphite, a nickel complexing agent, e.g. sodium pyrophosphate, and ammonium hydroxide has a base e.g. lithium, sodium, potassium or tetraethyl ammonium hydroxides added to it to raise the PH, without affecting the plating rate, e.g. to between 9À0 and 11‹5. The substrate may be Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, Be, Ge, Al, C, V, Mo, W, Cr, Se, Ti, U, Zn, Bi, Cd, Sn, Pb, or a ceramic and it may be sensitized and activated with stannous and palladium chlorides.
