Abstract
1,229,748. Stripping insulation. EUROPEAN ATOMIC ENERGY COMMUNITY (EURATOM). 7 March, 1969 [19 March, 1968], No. 12238/69. Heading H2C. A cable stripper comprises male and female members 11, 9 screwed together for relative rotation about and along a common axis and each having a through bore 16, 15 along said axis, means 10 for clamping a cable in the bore and a blade 1 on head 6 of member 9 whose position is adjusted by a guide 2 and a wedge 3. The clamping means 10 can be adjusted by a knurled wheel 13 and locked by a screw 12. For stripping, the members 9, 11 are unscrewed to a desired length and the cable introduced into the stripper through bores 16 and 15 against the blade. As member 9 is rotated around 11, the blade follows a helical path to cut the sheath and then along a circular path to trim the cut face. The head 6 or the pitch of the screw thread can be altered to suit cable diameter and the operation can be done either manually or automatically.
