Abstract

1,141,063. Lathe details. ENFIELD ROLLING MILLS Ltd. 1 July, 1966 [2 July, 1968], No. 28187/65. Heading B3T. A device for cutting a cylindrical or partcylindrical surface on the end of a quadrantshaped conductor, four of which form a cable, comprises a tubular body 3, a cutter 6 screwed into the body, a collar 15 for clamping to the conductor 1, a guide 13 screwed into body 3, and a member 26 screwed into the body, and connected to collar 15 by rods 25. Collar 15 comprises two parts 16, 17 hinged together which, when locked together by a clamp 20, provide a bore 24 of quadrant form. In operation, the conductor is passed through collar 15, member 26, guide 13, up to cutter 6. Collar 15 is closed, and a ratchet is inserted into an aperture 32 in end 31, and body 3, along with cutter 6, is rotated. The conductor is fed relative to the cutter due to the screwed engagement of member 26 with body 3.
