[Also in Group XXVIII] In a fitting for securing together two rods or tubes 14, 15 comprising a member 11 incorporating two through bores 12, 13 for the reception of the rods or tubes, the longitudinal axis of one bore being transverse to and displaced from the longitudinal axis of the other bore, and screw clamping means for clamping the rods or tubes to the member 11, the clamping means includes at least one screw 18 rotatably mounted on the member and having its axis transverse to both of the longitudinal axes, an extension of the screw axes passing through both of the latter. The two mutually perpendicular bores 12, 13 in the cylindrical aluminium member 11 partly overlap; the head 21 of the aluminium screw 18 is of a diameter equal to that of the member 11 and is provided with a tommy-bar hole 22. In the assembled position the under-side of the head lies close to the end 19 of the member 11. In a modification, the bores do not overlap and each tube or rod is retained by socket screws, one being disposed in each end of the cylindrical member; the latter in addition to the bores and rods or tubes may be of any desired cross-section.
