Abstract

[Also in Division E2] A tubular rail 4 of elliptical section is secured at its ends to upright 3 by a pair of clamps 5, each of which comprises two parts 6, 7 of semi-circular section hinged together. The part 6 is welded or brazed to the rail; and a clamping screw 10 extends through a hole in a lug 9 on the other part 7 and engages a tapped bore in an axial strap 11 secured to the rail. The lug 9 extends into a notch in the rail 4.
