Abstract

122,745. Moore, W. H., and Taylor, W. A. March 26, 1918. Pocket igniters, frictional.-A pocket igniter for lighting cigars, cigarettes, and pipes comprises a tubular case a, a tubular sleeve c fitting into the case and shaped at its upper end to form a wick tube c<2>, a steel tubular striker d detachably connected to the upper end of the tubular sleeve c. and a covering cap e fitting over the striker and the case and provided externally at its upper end with a piece f of pyrophoric material. The interior of the case a and the sleeve c are filled with absorbent material, and a groove may be provided in the sleeve c to permit an escape of air on pushing the sleeve into position. The striker d is clipped over the sleeve c and is prevented from moving by means of a stud c'. A clip is provided for securing the lighter to the pocket. According to the Provisional Specification, the upper edge of the striker extends above the wick tube at one side only.
