Abstract

124,336. Allday, H. June 11, 1918. Pocket - igniters, frictional.-In an igniter of the type in which the pyrophoric material is carried by a detachable cap, an inverted cup-shaped member 2 is soldered within the open end of a pocket tubular reservoir 1, and is provided with a wick-tube 6 and a bent steel strip 3 fixed by a rivet or screw to the cap, the turned-up part of the strip forming the steel striker and being preferably bevelled. The pyrophoric material 13 is carried by a holder 14 connected, preferably detachably, to the cap 12, such as by bars 15 passing through slots 16 in the cap and bent over upon the inside. The lower end of the reservoir may be provided with a detachable cap 9 to permit of filling with cotton-wool or the like and with petrol.
