Abstract

1,221,359. Hydrostatic extrusion die. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 25 June, 1968 [30 June, 1967], No. 30259/68. Heading B3P. An hydrostatic extrusion apparatus, for making a tape or bar the cross-section of which has at least one part the length of which is greater than the width, comprises a pressure chamber and a die, Fig. 1, forming a part of the internal limiting surface thereof, the inlet of the die being directed towards the interior of the pressure chamber, said die comprising a calibrating channel 1 at its outlet end and a frustoconical channel 3 at its inlet end connected by a chisel-shaped section 2 one end corresponding to the calibrating channel the other to the downstream end of the frusto-conical channel. In Fig. 5 is a view of an end of a billet for use with the die turned through 90 degrees the parts 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> corresponding to 2 and 3. The apex angle of the chisel-shaped channel is preferably greater than that of the frusto-conical channel preferred values being 90 and 45 degrees. In another embodiment the die has a crusiform calibrating channel (Fig. 6, not shown).
