Abstract
1378575 Extrusion dies ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 17 March 1972 [19 March 1971 30 Dec 1971] 12554/72 Heading B3P An extrusion die for producing splined or helically toothed articles comprises a die orifice with a series of grooves 8 whose base 15b is inclined towards the die axis in the direction of extrusion and/or whose side walls 16b are tapered in the direction of extrusion. The decrease in the groove width and/or depth ensures complete forming of the splines or teeth. In one embodiment, Fig. 7, the die has a conical inlet 6 and the base 15a of the groove 8 at the die outlet is parallel to the die axis while the base 15b at the inlet is inclined. In a second embodiment, Fig. 11 (not shown), the walls of the grooves taper in the initial zone (F) of the die and are parallel over the outlet zone (L). In a third embodiment, Fig. 13, the grooves have both an inclined base and tapered walls on the initial zone F.
