Abstract
1,260,571. Extruding; forging. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 9 June, 1969 [24 June, 1968], No. 29066/69. Headings B3H and B3P. An extrusion apparatus comprises a die 12 and a punch 1 formed with an outer part 4 and an inner part 3 which forces part of the billet 15 through the die and forms a hollow in the unextruded part which is mechanically interlocked to the part 3. The billet is limited for transverse spread in a sleeve 13 and the billet material flows into a groove 19 on the punch to form the interlock. The groove 19 may extend only partially around the inner part 3. The outer part 4 acts as a stripper during retraction of the punch. The die 12 has a set of openings (14), Fig. 5 (not shown), to form fins 18 which are thin and prevent the use of a conventional ejector.
