Abstract
1372652 Extruding ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELECTRISKA AB 3 March 1972 [4 March 1971] 9966/72 Heading B3P A billet for use in a hydrostatic extrusion press comprises a core 12 of aluminium or aluminium alloy and a easing 11 of copper or copper alloy whose internal diameter is such as to leave a clearance 14 between the casing and the core to allow for any deformation of the casing before it is assembled on to the core. The deformation may occur during annealing or handling. The clearance acts as an air trap and the rear end of the billet is provided with an air collecting space 20. The space may be defined by a bevel on a steel closure plate 15 for the billet which is sealed by a cap 16. The plate 15 may have a central hollow (22), Fig. 2 (not shown), into which the air is directed by radial grooves (23). The core or the casing may be provided with at least one axial groove 21.
