Abstract
1384738 Extrusion ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 17 March 1972 [18 March 1971] 12552/72 Heading B3P In a method of hydrostatically extruding a billet 11 the billet is initially extruded to form a leading part to which a drawing force is applied to assist the hydrostatic extrusion, the extrusion die 14 being surrounded by hydrostatic pressure to counteract stress caused during the combined drawing and extrusion. The leading end of the billet may be conical or double conical 17, 18, Fig. 3, so that the initial extrusion may be at a low pressure. The cone angle of the leading part of the billet is less than that of the die. The drawing force is applied by a member 15 which may operate a limit switch to stop the extrusion by controlling the movement of the plunger 16 and the member. A pressure limiter may be provided in the pressure chamber 13. The billet may be steel or a compound material and the extruded product may be solid or tubular.
