Abstract

The system operates at the end of the ram stroke, having a long shut-off needle valve, which runs parallel to the axial direction of the ram. It can be set against the surface of the orifice to be sealed, and the deflection of the surface of the orifice is used to determine the size of the opening. Compared with the conventional method using short needle valves at right angles to the ram axis, the system has the advantage that self-centering effect is more easily achieved, without making the braking effect come on suddenly.
